What's actually different about running payroll in Dubai

UAE payroll is two systems on top of each other: WPS (Wage Protection System) for monthly salary disbursement compliance, and EOSG (End-of-Service Gratuity) for terminal benefits. StafFixHR generates the SIF (Salary Information File) in the exact MOL-prescribed format every pay-run, books the per-employee EOSG accrual monthly (21 days × yrs ≤ 5; 30 days × yrs > 5), and tracks Emiratisation quotas via the ICA Wafra return data. Free-zone employers, on-shore mainland, DIFC, ADGM — the four regulatory regimes are all configured.

Does the SIF file format work with my bank?
Yes — we generate the standard CSV format adopted by all UAE WPS-participant banks (Emirates NBD, ADCB, FAB, HSBC ME, Mashreq, RAKBANK). Upload the SIF directly through bank corporate portal; we test with each bank before activating.
How is EOSG accrued — 21 days or 30 days per year?
Per UAE Labour Law Article 132 (Federal Decree-Law 33/2021): 21 days of basic salary per year for the first 5 years, then 30 days per year after that, capped at 2 years of basic salary total. We accrue monthly so the balance is always current; on resignation we compute final entitlement automatically including any unpaid leave days.
Do you handle gratuity differently for limited-term vs unlimited-term contracts?
Yes — post-2022 UAE has effectively unified to one contract type, but for legacy contracts pre-Feb 2022 we maintain the older differential rules. Migration to the new system is offered as a one-click conversion if you choose.
Multi-currency salary — USD base + AED allowance?
Yes. Salary components configured in source currency; conversion to AED for WPS file uses configurable FX (manual or daily-fix). Foreign-currency portion shown clearly on payslip alongside AED-equivalent.
DIFC / ADGM employees — different rules?
DIFC has its own Employment Law (DIFC Law No. 4 of 2020) — different EOSG formula (DEWS scheme for end-of-service savings instead of accrual). We support DEWS contributions + reporting. ADGM uses Federal Decree-Law 33/2021 with minor overlays we handle by default.
Do you do Emiratisation reporting (ICA Wafra / TAFAQA)?
We surface the headcount + UAE national ratio quarterly so you can report through Wafra. We don't file Wafra automatically — that's done through the ICA portal by your PRO — but the data export matches Wafra's required columns.
