How do you handle the RTI Late-Filing penalty risk?
Pre-2024 there was a per-occurrence £100-£400 penalty; current HMRC posture is a risk-based one (3-strike rule). We submit on or before pay-date by default and surface any failed transmission immediately so the operator can resubmit before HMRC's cutoff.
Pension auto-enrolment — which providers?
Direct integrations with NEST (free, government), The People's Pension, Aviva, Smart Pension, Standard Life. Default contribution: 3% employer + 5% employee total 8%. Auto-enrolled at the start of the postponement window you configure.
IR35 status determination — does StafFixHR support it?
Yes. Each contractor goes through the CEST-aligned questionnaire (HMRC's Check Employment Status for Tax tool); we save the determination as evidence and apply the correct PAYE / NI / Apprenticeship Levy treatment based on inside/outside IR35.
Apprenticeship Levy — when does it kick in?
0.5% of total UK pay bill above £3M annual. For most SMBs this doesn't apply (you're allowed a £15K offset). We track the bill against the threshold and start charging Levy from the month you cross it.
How do you handle Employment Allowance?
Eligible employers get up to £5,000/year off their employer NI bill (subject to state-aid de minimis check). We file the EPS claim once at the start of each tax year and apply the offset across pay-runs until exhausted.
Do you support Scottish vs English tax rates?
Yes. Scottish-resident employees use the Scottish bands (S prefix on tax code). Welsh employees use the Welsh bands (C prefix). HMRC notifies tax code via P9 / P6 messages; we ingest these monthly from HMRC's DPS.
